Supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities to be digitally included: the 100% Digital Leeds approach

A session hosted by Ian McArdle
Digital Inclusion Coordinator, Leeds City Council – 100% Digital Leeds

Adults with learning disabilities can face many challenges and barriers in their everyday lives, and have fewer opportunities accessible to them in terms of education, training, employment, social inclusion and living as independently as possible. Digital access and skills play a crucial role in overcoming barriers to these opportunities. In order to prosper in an increasingly digital world, it has been more important to get online and develop the skills to help people manage their lives successfully and independently. 100% Digital Leeds is a Leeds City Council-led movement aimed at maximising and accelerating digital inclusion within the city. During this presentation we will explore: • The barriers to digital for adults with learning disabilities • How organisations working with adults with learning disabilities have, with our support, enabled their service users to make the most of digital • Examples of best practice from some of our partner organisations
